Balangir: Maoists burnt down about a dozen kendu leaf godowns in Balangir district, police said here on Sunday.

Separate groups of Maoists set ablaze different kendu leaf godowns under Khaprakhol block area of Balangir district last night, Superintendent of Police R Prakash said.

The rebels left pamphlets demanding 8-point charter of demands including hike in the price of kendu leaf and proper remuneration for leaf pluckers, he said.

Maoists had also torched a kendu leaf godown in Nuapada district yesterday, police said.
