By Orissadiary correspondent; Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of State for Commerce and Power Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday said that National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) would set up two ultra mega power plants in Orissa. "Funds to the tune of Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 crore would be invested in these projects," he said. Addressing a Press Conference here on Wednesday, Jairam said the first project would come up at Darbipalli in Sundergarh district with a capacity of 3,200 mw. Another project would come up in Gajamara in Dhenkanal district having a production capacity of 3,200 mw. He further informed that the Centre would soon initiate a discussion on the power sharing purchase agreement from these two projects. "The State is giving land, water and its air would be polluted owing to the establishment of thermal power plant. The State has all the legitimate rights to claim its due share from a power project," he said, adding that the Centre would generously look into this issue.
