Report by Orissadiary correspondent; Bhubaneswar: The Orissa government on Friday suspended the six ‘corrupt’ officials of mines and forest departments who were arrested for working hand-in-glove with the mines mafias in Kenojhar district.
The officials, who were placed under suspension, are joint directors Ganesh Mohanty and Debendra Mishra, deputy director Madan Mohan Biswal, Joda mines officer Routray Murmu, forest ranger Dilip Kumar Behera and forester Kamalakanta Pradhan. The Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday had arrested total 8 people in this case. The other two are Sasadhar Sahoo, the former mines director and Shakti Ranjan Das, the power of attorney holder of RBT. All the accused persons are languishing in jail after their bail pleas were rejected.
The development came hours after the Vigilance department probing into the multi-crore scam submitted its second report recommending to the government to suspend the tainted government officials. Earlier in its preliminary report, the Vigilance had divulged the involvement of the officials in the scam that has put the state government in a tight spot.
