Orissa Government to train Panchayati Raj Representatives

Report by Dipti Ranjan Kanungo; Bhubaneswar: The Public Representatives of three tier Panchayati Raj will be trained. The training programme will be started from Wednesday in 80 places. Within a year 60 thousand public representatives will be trained expressed Panchayati Raj minister Prefulla Samal here on Tuesday.

In a press conference held in the Conference hall of Information and Public Relation department Minister Sri samal expressed that the Gram Panchayat,Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad  are the heart of the local bodies.All the representatives of the three tier Panchayati Raj  system will be well trained . 78 Non Government Organisations (NGOs)  have been tied up with the SIRD  for the year 2009-10.More than 400 trained personnels will manage this training programme.The District Panchayat Officer will act as district head of the training programme.The Additional BDOs  or Extention Officers will  act as Nodal officer and Block level Coordinator.More than 40,000 Panchayati Raj Representatives will be trained before March,2010. and the rest more than 20,000 representatives will be trained before September,2010.

The programme will be inaugurated on Wednesday (  07.10.2009) at Bhadrak by the Panchayati Raj Minister Prafulla Samal and The State Election Commission Ajit Kumar Tripathy will join in this occasion.
