Three members of CMAS killed in police firing at Narayanapatna of Orissa

Sudhakar Patnaik; Narayanapatna: Three tribals belongs to Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha killed and about 15 tribals sustained bullet injuries in a police firing at about 2.45 pm today at Narayanapatna in Koraput district in front of police station according to the official source of information. Out of fear all the shops, Government offices, Schools, Banks closed today at Narayanapatna. The incident took place today when the tribal belonging to Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha opposing the police combing operation and deployment of CRPF at Narayanapatna inside the police station premises.

The members of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha forcibly first entered inside the police station with their traditional arms demanding to withdraw the CRPF housed in police station. Finding no other alternative the police only for self defense opened fire in which three tribal people died. The Bar Association president Mr. Nihar Ranjan Patnaik who has been appointed by the government as an advocate to look after the tribal land dispute cases told that the firing itself took place in absence of the Magistrate which is illegal. Narayanapatna Block is about 80 km from the district headquarter Koraput. 

The Superintendent of Police Dr. Deepak Kumar is not available over phone.  One of the three tribals died identified Mr. Singanna the District Collector Mr. Gadadhar Parida Confirmed. Mr. Singanna was commandant of Ghenua Bahini who was looking after collecting the intelligence and the law and order problems of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha, Narayanapatna. His death itself is a great loose for the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha the Tribals opined.    No not even a single man is seen in Narayanapatna Block headquarters. The Narayanapatna Block headquarters deserted look.
