Information campaign is  meant for social justice says ex-Orissa minister

Bhubaneswar: Information campaign is meant for the common people who really need social justice to be empowered. This type of mega public information campaigns should be organized in village clusters at regular intervals, so that information on various develop schemes, government policies, plans will flow smoothly to the people says Former Minister Shri Niranjan Patnaik. Inaugurating 4th day programmme of the Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign organized by Press Information Bureau here Shri Patnaik emphasized on the need of sensitizing people on the components of Bharat Nirman and Flagship programmes of the Central government. To provide all urban facilities in rural areas steps should be taken to aware the people on their rights. UPA government has taken historic steps by making NREGA, RTI Act, and now Women’s Reservation Bill. All the political parties forgetting their differences should come forward to empower the people by providing support to face the greater challenges to build the nation. For this we have to change the mind set, Shri Patnaik added.

Former Minister Shri Nalini Kanta Mohanty in his address said that proper monitoring system should be evolved to evaluate the implementation of various developmental schemes worked out in the rural areas. UPA government is not neglecting the state to get its due share, on the other hand state machinery should evolve a mechanism for 100 per cent utilization of Central assistance, he said.

Presiding over the meeting former Minister Shri Rama Krushna Patnaik, opined that Central government should take steps to make three/four officers as their “brand ambassadors” for the state by empowering them to review various schemes implemented by the government. This will to a larger extent check the corruption in the implementation of schemes like NREGS,PDS, and Bharat Nirman components. Former bureaucrat Shri Rabi Mohapatra in his address told that proper feedback system by Press Information Bureau should be devised to make Union Govt aware of the lapses and lacunae in the implementation of schemes like NREGS, RGGVY, JNNURM, Bharat Nirman and Flagship programmes. Shri S. Venkateswar , Director, PIB, Bhubaneswar, Territory Manager of Rail Tel Corporation Maj. R.P. Verma also spoke on this occasion.
