Andhra Pradesh CM reviews progress of various projects

Hyderabad: The Chief Minister Dr K Rosaiah today reviewed the various Projects and progress of work of the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation Limited (APMDC) with Minister and officials at Secretariat. Present status and action plan for the ongoing projects and new projects were reviewed.

 The APMDC-NMDC-DMG Joint Venture is for mining low and medium grade iron ore in Karimnagar, Kurnool, Kadapa and Chittoor. The total estimated available quantity is 370 MMTs and the estimated value @ Rs.800/MT is Rs.29,600 crores. The preliminary work is now on at Pagadalapalle in Kadapa and Chandoli in Karimnagar. The meeting also reviewed APMDC's preliminary work at the Naugaon-Telesahi Coal Block in Orissa and Singrouli Coal field in Sidhi District in Madhya Pradesh.

The Chief Minister was also explained about the excavation of Fullerence at Mangampeta Barytes Mine in Kadapa District and the estimated approximate value of Fullerence is Rs. 95,000 crores. Fullerence is used in Nanotechnology, solar energy, superconductivity and air/space vehicles. Expression of Interests for Research and Development, extraction of fullerence is now called for. The Chief Minister appreciated that the turnover of APMDC has increased to Rs.217.18 crores during 2009-10 from Rs.64.79 crs during 2005-06 and profits increased from Rs.19.72 crs. during 2005-06 to Rs.70.90 crs. during 2009-10. The meeting also reviewed other projects taken by the APMDC.

Dr. Rosaiah asked the officials of APMDC to speed up the works of the projects. Minister for Mines and Geology, Balineni Sreenivasa Reddy. Secretary, Mines and Geology, Ranjeev R. Acharya, VC & MD, APMDC, Praveeen Prakash and other officials attended the meeting.
