Orissa  Revenue department officially declares 15 districts as drought affected

Report by Dipti Ranjan Kanungo; Bhubaneswar: The Revenue department officially declared 15 districts as drought affected. These districts are Angul, Balasore, Bargarh, Boudh, Debagarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Puri, Sonepur, Sambalpur and Sundargarh.

About 2,460  villages of Mayurbhanj district highest and 1761 villages of Balasore district which is lowest  drought affected . Atleast 90 blocks of above district and 104 ward of  14 Municipality drought prone. Besides, 10,336 revenue villages of 1444 revenue gram panchayats drought prone. This has been declaired basing on the report of the district Collectors.

The Revenue Minister Suryanarayan Patra told here  that the school fees and examination fees of the drought prone areas will be exempted.
