Report by Orissa Diary correspondent; Bhubaneswar: The Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik today launched the e-Forms facility and Treasury portal at IDCOL Auditorium here.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, "I am glad to be here today to launch the e-Forms facility. This will be another mile stone in our efforts to provide e-Governance administration to the citizens of our state. I compliment the Commercial Tax Department for launching this service.
The e-forms facility will enable the dealers to obtain waybills and other statutory forms electronically. They need not come to the offices time and again to obtain various statutory forms. I am told the dealers paying tax and filing returns electronically will be able to download electronic waybills almost instantaneously. This will facilitate the business transactions of traders and dealers saving their precious time and usher in a business friendly environment in the Commercial Tax Administration.
My Government is taking various steps to bring the administration closer to the people and improve the efficiency of the Government Departments. Many departments have initiated various electronic governance initiatives to deliver various services to the citizens in efficient and transparent manner. The commercial taxes are the most important source of Revenue of the State. and industry in the State. I am very happy to learn that the Commercial Tax Department has formulated and implemented a time bound action plan for delivery of various e-services. The e-
Efficient and transparent administration of the commercial taxes will help the growth of trade services launched by the Commercial Tax Department during the last year have been well appreciated by the business community. The dealers now find it easy to pay taxes, and file the tax returns electronically. This facility will considerably reduce the compliance cost of the dealers and improve the efficiency of the Department.
I am also glad to launch the Orissa Treasury Portal today. This portal will provide the facility for payment of commercial taxes and various other taxes electronically. I call upon the trade and industry to make use of these electronic services. I advise the departments to maintain efficiency in providing these electronic services".
The Chief Minister presented e-Forms to two dealers during the function. Among other, the programme was attended by Shri Prafulla Ch. Ghadai, Minister, Finance, Shri Bijay Kumar Patnaik, Chief Secretary, Shri Jugal Kishore Mohapatra, Principal Secretary, Finance and Shri Nikunja Dhal, Commissioner, Commercial Tax.
