Report by Jyoti Prakash; Bhubaneswar: Adhara Enrolment through Post Offices under Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been inaugurated by Chief Secretary Bijaya Kumar Patnaik in the premises of Post Master General’s ( PMG) Office.
Speaking on the occasion Sri Patnaik mentioned that in the first phase the programme in Odisha was started through Electronics Corporation of India. Later it was decided to include other agencies to speed up the work. Now inclusion of Post offices is most welcome. Since the Post Masters and Postmen are very popular in rural Odisha and people have confidence on post offices, the enrolment work can be better done by them. Sri Patnaik also mentioned that Information & Technology Department has been mandated to monitor maintenance of uniformity in enrolment methods of multiple agencies. Each agency will operate in a specific area. Enrolment through post offices will be carried on by Ecentric Solutions Private Ltd, Hyderabad and National Small Scale Industries Corporation ( NSIC), Cuttack.
The Ecentric Solutions Ltd. will undertake enrolment in 8 post office areas of Nayagarh district, 13 post office areas of Khordha district, 10 in Puri District, 1 in Boudh , 3 in Kandhamal, 3 in Angul, 9 in Ganjam, 1 in Gajpati, 1 in Rayagada, 1 in Nawarangpur, 2 in Dhenknal, 4 in Keonjhar, 1 in Deogarah, 2 in Jharsuguda, 6 in Sundargarh, 8 in Bhadrakh and 8 in Balasore; while NSIC will under take it in 5 post office areas of Koraput district, 3 in Kalahandi district, 1 in Malkangiri, 1 in Bolangir, 2 in Sbarnapur, 9 in Jajpur, 11 in Kendrapara, 8 in Mayurbhanj, 3 in Cuttack, 4 in Jagatsinghpur, 3 in Sambalpur and 3 in Bargarh districts. In Bhubaneswar the enrolment will be done in GPO, Sahidnagr, Ashoknagar, and Old Town post offices.
The post offices in adjacent areas like Balakti, Balipatana, Kakatpur, Nimapada, Pipili and Astarang will also do the enrolment in their respective areas. Enrolment will be done in all the working days during working hours. The citizens have been advised to come with their identity and address Profs for being enrolled. The Chief Post Master General Mrs. Hilda Abraham presiding over the inaugural function expressed the confidence that the post offices will achieve excellence in this assignment. Director Post Offices Sudhansu Swain gave the welcome address. Senior. Supt. of Post offices Aditya Nayak and Pravat Mohapatra coordinated the function.
The unique identification number will provide citizens the simplest and easiest means to clearly establish their identity to any public or private agency and will ease them form the problems of performing Know Your Customer ( KYC) checks before different authorities and public service providers.
