Hyderabad: The Chief Minister Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy has reviewed the “Thane Cyclone” latest situation with Revenue Minister Mr. N.Raghuveera Reddy and the Chief Secretary to Government, Sri Pankaj Dwivedi this morning, over phone from Delhi.
The Chief Minister has enquired about the effect of “Thane” and the measures taken up by the State administration. The Chief Secretary has informed that except the Eastern Chittoor district which received 7 to 8 cms rainfall, in other places, rain just started--Gudur, Tirupati – 3 cms and Nellore 1.5 cms rainfall recorded.
The Chief Secretary has also informed that everything in the cyclone-affected areas of Nellore and Chittoor is under control and the District Collector, Prakasam stated that though there are clouds so far it's only drizzles in some parts. The Chief Secretary stated that though sea is rough in all the districts, wind velocity is not alarming. The Chief Secretary also informed the Chief Minister that before starting of the Cyclone, around 45 fishermen went into high sea and 15 returned safely and all other remaining were brought back to safe areas with the help of coast guard and Indian Navy who utilized their special helicopter for rescue operations. The Executive Officer, TTD, was directed that all measures should be taken to ensure that pilgrims are not put to any inconvenience in Tirumala and Tirupathi because of the cyclone.
As a precautionary measure, the Collector, Chittoor was directed to see that the schools are closed where the affect of cyclone is heavy. The Chief Secretary has informed that the situation is perfectly under control. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction and asked the officials to constantly monitor the situation.
