Himachal Pradesh CM orders correction in revenue record

Shimla: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, took serious note of the complaint filed by Pong Dam oustee Smt. Harbans Kaur wife of Shri Bhagwan Dass of village Bharmar, Tehsil Jwali, district Kangra, to put her revenue record straight. He directed the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Revenue concerned Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation, to get the complaint redressed on priority since the Himachal Pradesh Public Services Guarantee Act had been enacted in the State to provide citizen time bound services.

Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh was one of the foremost States of the country which had adopted the Citizen Charter to deliver people time bound services. He said that the complainant Smt. Harbans Kaur was Pong Dam Oustee and had purchased land at village Bharmar in Jwali sub-division of district Kangra, who claimed to have been urging the authorities to get her encroached land vacated from its occupants and handed over to her. He said that since the matter had been delayed much and required immediate attention at the appropriate authority level. He directed the authorities to accord priority to the complaint and get the matter settled. He reiterated the resolve of the State Government to protect the interests of Pong Dam oustees who had made commendable service towards the nation by surrendering their ancestral land to pave the way for construction of the Dam. He said that the State Government had been raising the demands of oustees with the Centre and other partner states of the Bhakra Beas Management Board to protect the interests of the oustees and additionally created the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Relief and Rehabilitation, to vouch for the interests of the oustees.

Prof. Dhumal said that the enactment of the Himachal Pradesh Public Services Guarantee Act which had listed priorities for delivery of various services by different government departments by setting the time frame for the same. He said that the State Government had also been according high priority to the redressal of grievances of the people by organizing ‘Prashashan Janta Ke Dwar Par’ programme down to the tehsil level. He said that he had himself been presiding over the programme by visiting different places all over the State so that people did not have to travel to Shimla to meet him or other district headquarters to file their complaints for redressal of grievances.
