Tuesday, May 29, 2012
Report by Pravuprasad; Bhubaneswar: As ruling BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik on nine days official tour to UK, 25 BJD MLAs meet RS MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra in the backdrop of reported Naveen-Pyari split. Along with these MLAs , three ministers in the Naveen cabinet attend the meeting.

Minister Anjali Behera, Sharada Nayak and Sanjeeb Sahoo attended the meeting. Pravat Biswal, Bishnu Dash, Arabinda Dhali, Khageswar Behera, Rajendra Sahoo, Bibhutibalabanta Ray, Sananda Mrandai, Pravat Biswal, Jeevendeep Pradeep Dash, Kamalakanta Nayak, Mukund Sari, Bhagaban Kanhar, Rajendra Sahoo, Sushanta Sahoo, Shrinatha Soren , Mukund Sodi, Sanjeeb Pradhan and others.

Report says they are planning to form a breakaway government with the help of some Congress MLAs, and are meeting the Governor on Wednesday.

BJD vice president Damodar Rout says some MLAs met Pyari Mohan Mahapatra and are planning to form a breakaway government. He however denied any threat to the state government saying, "There is no threat to our government as there is no alternative."
Sources say party likely to suspend MP Pyari Mohan Mahapatra and his supporters soon. In another development CM Naveen Patnaik to return Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

Earlier on 25th May BJD decided to give Odisha bandh call on May 31. In that meeting all the BJD office-bearers and heads of frontal organisations of the party attended. But despite the presence of Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra in Bhubaneswar, he was neither invited to the meeting nor consulted on the matter. Rather, his detractor and party vice-president Damodar Rout was called to the meeting. It has made it clear that there are growing differences between the top two leaders of the party. The meeting was presided over by another vice-president and Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei.

Mohapatra had been sidelined in the decision-making process in the party.  Even CM Naveen Patnaik never consulted him in Rajya Sabha election and other development of party. Campaign for the Athgarh bypoll had brought to the fore the differences between the two leaders.
