Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: UK-based IDS showed a keen interest in the strategy adopted by Odisha in malnutrition reduction. The institute has exmined the issues of malnutrition and poverty reduction in India closely and has been bringing out case studies and articles on this important matter.
The IDS team discussed in detail about the new conditional cash transfer scheme MAMATA and appreciated the commitment of the CM towards malnutrition reduction. They were also appreciative of other steps of Odisha govt such as the mission shakti programme, the decentralization of SNP and formation of a nutrition council under the chairmanship of CM.
The state govt expressed interest in establishing a collaboration with IDS, by learning from the best practices through greater indepth discussions, cross learning opportunities on site and through rigorous analysis contextualised for Odisha. IDS Sussex was also keen to collaborate with Odisha, and very soon a strategy for the same will be worked out by both sides.
