Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: International acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik welcomed in his arrival at Bhubaneswar Airport from Copenhagen after he won Copenhagen Sand Sculpture Championship 2012. So many people, fans and students of his sand art school greeted International sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik at Bhubaneswar Airport on Friday.
President of India Pratibha Devisingh Patil Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and many other personalities congratulated sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik on his winning the International Sand Sculpture Championship in Copenhagen. Sudarsan is the ambassador of Odisha said Chief minister of Odisha.
It should be noted that Odisha-based Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has won the first prize at the Copenhagen International sand sculpture championship 2012 held in Denmark. Including Sudarsan 9 artists participated from different countries in this championship, they are Canada, Russia, Bulgaria, Ireland, England, Germany, Ukraine, and Gahanna.
On the occasion of prize giving ceremony the cultural Mayer of Copenhagen Pia Allerslev presented the 1st prize to Sudarsan. Russia won the second prize and Ireland won the third prize. Pattnaik created a 20 Feet high sand sculpture on "Save the Ocean".
I always try to give messages through my sculpture, so, this time I created this sculpture on "save the Ocean". On my sculpture I show the little marmite of Copenhagen. I am very happy to won this prize. Said Sudarsan. From last 20 years he is doing sand sculpture at Puri beach of Odisha. He is the brand ambassador of NALCO.
