Odisha: ECoR to run two more specials trains during Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar:  In view to avoid rush in regular trains and in addition to 60 specials declared earlier, Railways have decided to run 2 more special trains between Kharagpur and Puri to provide better passenger comforts to the commuters.
08045/08046 Kharagpur-Puri-Kharagpur special train will leave Kharagpur at 18.40hrs on 20th June 2012 and arrive at Puri at 04.50hrs on the next day.
In the return direction, this train will leave Puri at 00.30hrs on 22nd June 2012 (Mid night of 21.06.2012) and arrive at Kharagpur at 10.00hrs on the next day.
This train will stop at all stations between Kharagpur & Dantan and Laxmannath Road, Jaleswar, Amarda Road, Basta, Rupsa, Balasore, Khantapada, Soro, Markona, Ranital, Bhadrak, Manjuri Road, Baitarani Road, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Jenapur, Haridaspur, Dhanmandal, Kapilas Road, Ghantikhal Nidhipur, Barang, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Delang, Kanas Road and Sakshigopal between Kharagpur and Puri having 10 General Second Class and Two Guard cum Luggage Vans in its composition.

In another development the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has made a special awareness campaign for passengers in overcrowded trains and urged the passengers to avoid train journey on footboard, buffers and rooftop for their safe journey.
Apart from this, it has arranged exclusive passenger amenities for the convenience of the passengers.
Passengers are requested not to accept food, soft drink including drinking water from the strangers.
They are advised not to carry any inflammable items like gas cylinder, stoves, debris, cigarettes and matchbox etc. Passengers are also requested not to touch suspicious unclaimed things like Tiffin Box, baggage etc. They should purchase tickets to travel with dignity and not to entrain or detrain when the train is in motion.

Apart from the above, priority has been given on cleanliness of platforms, trains and station premises, safety and security of passengers during Rath Yatra.
Provision of additional booking counters and running of special trains have also been arranged by ECoR.

ECoR has decided to run 62 Special Trains during Rath Yatra festival period to and from Puri from different important destinations of the state including Visakhapatnam & Palasa of Andhra Pradesh & Kharagpur of West Bengal apart from 180 regular trains.

It has opned 35 additional Computerized Unreserved Ticket Booking Counters at Puri only and also opened extra counters at different important stations over its jurisdiction.
Besides, it has opened seven additional enquiry and information counters round the year for the convenience of the passengers.
It has also deputed doctors and paramedical staff all the time at Puri to provide first aid services with Ambulance facilities.

Sanitation and cleanliness arrangements have been made at station premises and surrounding areas of Puri Railway Station free of cost.
A rest shed has been erected at Puri station exclusively for the convenience of the passengers which can accommodate five thousand persons.

Janata Meals will be provided at 21 stalls at Puri, Sakhigopal, Delang, Kanas Road and Khurda Road Stations. Besides, 24-hour Food Plaza will be opened at Puri Station.
More water coolers have been provided at Puri Stations including 04 existing water coolers. Packaged drinking water will also be sold at different places.

Sufficient lighting arrangements have been provided at Puri Railway Station and its adjacent areas including proper illumination for passengers’ comfort.
About 450 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel including Officers and staff will be deployed for the entire Rath Yatra period.

40 lady constables will be deployed for safety and security of lady passengers preferably at the time of purchasing tickets at booking office, PRS & ladies waiting room etc.
CCTV, metal detectors, sniffer dog including sufficient security personnel will also be deployed at Puri & other important stations, an ECoR release said here.
