Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government likely to appoint IPS Prakash Mishra as the next Director General of Police (DGP) of the State. As the state government made a formal request to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to repatriate Mishra.
Sources said that the state government has formally requested the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to relieve senior IPS officer Prakash Mishra from his post as his "service is required in the state. Prakash Mishra a 1977-batch IPS officer, he is presently the Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) posted in New Delhi. Incumbent DGP Manmohan Praharaj, a 1976-batch IPS officer, has been holding the post since 2008.
