Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government to build Khadi Bhawan at cost of Rs.100 cr in Bhubaneswar. The proposed Khadi Bhawan will be constructed as a multi-user modern complex providing space for Khadi, Handicraft, Handloom and MS&ME products inside the premises of Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board.
This has been decided in a high level meeting held under Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik in secretariat conference hall last evening wherein CMD IDCO Pradeep Kumar Jena put forth the broad design and utilization pattern of the building. It has been proposed to construct the building as a multistoried one up to 15 floors as a joint venture IDCO and Khadi Board. One floor will be around 26000 Sq feet. It will have conference hall and other common facility centers. The provisional budget of the project has been estimated at Rs.100 cr. At present Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board is functioning at Kharbela Nagar with its campus over an area of Ac.3.318 acres.
Chief Secretary Sri Patnaik has advised the CMD IDCO to prepare the architectural design and go ahead with tendering processes. Target has been set to complete the tendering process by December. The Director of Estates GA Dept has been asked to convey the cost of land to Khadi Board. It has been proposed to complete the construction within 36 months. The Bhwan will be developed to a descent complex and will have spaces for other commercial activities in addition to Khadi, handicraft and handloom products.
Chairman Khadi Board Nagendra Kumar Pradhan, Secretary MS& ME N.K.Sundaray, CMD IDCO P.K.Jena, Special Secretary MS&ME Pnachanana Das along with other senior officers participated in discussions.
