Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: The Government in Commerce & Transport Department have modified the Vehicle Number Plate sign with  'OD' substituting  'OR'. This will come into effect from 1st September, 2012.

The above amendment has been made by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-Section(6) of Section 41 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988(59 of 1988). In fact, this amendment is the supersession of the notification of the year 1989.

However, the number plates carrying  'OR' which have been written prior to 1st September, 2012 need not any modifications. Vehicles including two wheelers, 4 wheelers and 6 wheelers those are to take new registration from 1st  September of the current year will be abide by the notification of Gazette of India having modified code O'.
