Report by Suchismita Sahoo; Bhubaneswar: Odisha High Court on Wednesday  serves notice to suspended Biju Janata Dal MP Pyari Mohapatra in an alleged defamation case.

High Court asked Mohapatra to file counters within six weeks in response to a defamation case filed against him. Admitting a writ filed by Odisha State Non-gazetted Officers’ Coordination Committee chief general secretary Braja Nanda, a single judge bench of Justice Indrajit Mahanti issued notice to Mohapatra.

Nanda in his petition has mentioned that the Parliamentarian had reportedly uttered certain  defamatory remarks against him at a public meeting in Bhubaneswar on February 6, 2010. Seeking criminal proceedings against Mohapatra. Nanda in his writ had alleged that Mohapatra’s public utterances has tarnished his image in public.
