Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: Sashi Bhushan Behera appointed as the new BJD Parliamentary Party leader in Rajya Sabha. Behera was elected at meeting of his party MPs conveyed by BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas on Tuesday. This was announced by the party chief Naveen Patnaik here.

Patnaik announced that MP Mangla Kisan will be the party chief whip in Rajya Sabha. The post of Parliamentary Party Leader in Rajya Sabha fell vacant following the resignation of  Pyarimohan Mohapatra who on moral grounds had resigned on being suspended from the party after the alleged May 29 aborted coup against Patnaik.

Lack of consensus has led to delay in the appointment of the new leader in the BJD Parliamentary Party in Rajya Sabha.
