Report by Priyabrata Nayak; Bhubaneswar: Realizing the importance of power, the state government is all set to provide uninterrupted power supply to medicals. In the first phase three medical colleges and hospitals and all districts medical in the state would have round the clock electricity supply.
Steps have been taken to provide power supply directly from grids by setting up transformers at all these medicals. The state government has sanctioned 25 crore rupees for this electrification project and which is directed to be completed before end of month of December. Health and family welfare minister Dr Damoder rout said, all the four power distribution companies have been pressed into action under the monitoring of state energy department.
Till date works have been completed at Khurda, Cuttack City hospital and Bolangir hospital and works at other places is in progress, Rout added. In past state has been witnessing number of untoward incidents like patients being operated with candlelight. These kinds of incidents are making headlines in media, which is a strong blow for the government.
To curb these problems government has decided to provide uninterrupted power supply to hospitals. After district hospitals government is planning to include primary health centers and public health centers into this project, Dr Rout said.
