Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee faults the state government over the present law order scenario in the state. The State Congress today said that the Congress will give a tough fight to the Naveen Patnaik led BJD government at the panchayat level in the coming days as it has failed on every count.
“The BJD government has failed in every front, starting from the law and order situation to protecting the interests of the farmers. Farmers have a tough time now because erratic monsoon has played spoilsport,” Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik told reporters after the executive committee meeting of the party at the Congress Bhawan here.
He announced that the party will take to the streets against the government on different issues. He was also critical of the alleged exploitation by the power distribution companies.
Reiterating his demand for all-party meeting on Polavaram issue, he said the state government has kept the people in dark about the project without clarifying whether the project will benefit the state or not.
Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh held the chief minister responsible for all kinds of illegal activities by the present dispensation. Naveen Patnaik is trying to passing the buck for all irregularities on the estranged leader Pyari Mohan Mohapatra. However, the ruling party has dismissed all the allegations by the Opposition party.
The Opposition party should see the present scenario in the Congress-ruled Assam and Maharashtra where people are living in panic due to the deterioration in law and order, said panchayati raj minister Kalpataru Das while health minister Damodar Rout said that the Congress should take up the issue of Polavarm with the Andhra Pradesh government.
