Report by Suchismita Sahoo; Bhubaneswar: Centre likely to appoint a new governor for the state of Odisha in next week as current governor MC Bhandare's term expired in August 21. Though picture is not clear about the appointment of new governor but sources said President likely to ask neighboring state governor to take the charge. Most probably governor of the Andhra Pradesh likely to take charge of Odisha for few days till further order over the appointment of a new governor.
But political analysts predict that incumbent governor MC Bhanadare has good term with Congress central leadership so he likely to be retained as governor of the state. He took the charge of Governor on August 21, 2007.
He was appointed as governor to Odisha when Shivraj Patil was Home Minister. It should be noted that Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare is a senior Congress leader from Maharashtra, and a former Rajya Sabha member from 1980 to 1994 for three terms during 1980-1982, 1982–1988 and 1988-1994.
