Report by Manoranjan Routray; Koraput: Dead body of Teli Kadraka alias Rajendra who was killed yesterday in a police encounter at Bandhugaon under Koraput district was shown to the media today at SP office, Koraput.
According to the Press Note released by the police, on 19th August 2012, at about 6 p.m, after getting specific input regarding presence of a group of armed cadres of CPI (Maoists) in forest area near Bada Matturu village under Bandhugaon police station a combing operation was launched in above area by the district police to nab the Maoists. During combing operation, there was an exchange of fire between police party and armed Maoists. The exchange of fire lasted for 35-40 minutes.
After firing stopped, police party searched the forest area and found one dead body of Maoists who was later on identified as Teli Kadraka @ Rajendar s/o Achhana Kadraka, resident of Upper Poteshu village under Bandhugaon PS. Stained Maoist was an ACM rank cadre of Srikakulam- Koraput Joint Divisional Committee and was In-charge of Jhanjabati-Bandhugaon Area Committee after the killing of Sitru on 26th January 2012.
However, other armed Maoists namely Andru @ Jaggu @ Jagan, Santhu, Chandu, Aruno, Sambru Sirika, Lengu Habika, Kondatamara Birsu, Dishara Hikaka, Pushika Lachhana, Samiga Pidika, Kushto Tadingi, Kishta Huika and others managed their escape taking advantage of thick forest and darkness. Reportedly two or three Maoists sustained bullet injuries. A 303 rifle, live ammunition of 303/12 bore (7 nos + 4 nos), fired case of 303/SLR (8+6), one Samsung Mobile, one bag containing Maoists literature/documents, Maoists banners were recovered.
According to Abinash Kumar, SP, Koraput Teli Kadraka was involved in 5 murder cases including that of a child with several offences such as Kidnapping/demolition of houses/ destroying Mobile tower etc in Bandhugaon Police station limits. ASP, Rastrajyoti Sahu, SDPO, Koraput, Niranjan Rout, SDPO, Laxmipur, Y. Jagannath Rao, IIC, Bandhugaon, Abhaya Behera, IIC, Koraput Town, Subash Chandra Rayaguru were present in the Press meet.
