Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: British parliamentary delegation arrived in Bhubaneswar on Monday on a two-day visit to the State. The nine-member team of Members of Parliament (MPs) lead by Sir Alan Haselhurst is scheduled to meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday.
Then team members will discuss the UK’s role in development of the State with CM Patnaik. The British Parliamentarians would attend a roundtable discussion with Chief Secretary Bijay Kumar Patnaik to know about the development challenges faced by the State Government while implementing developmental programmes along with the DFID support.
The delegation today visited Sagada village in Puri district to review Parimala Yojana. Later the team visited Puri and Konark. The delegation likely to would visit Milk Mantra, one of the leading dairy production plants of Odisha, at Gop near Konark, which has launched its flagship brand Milky Moo. The plant produces fresh pasteurised milk in a unique packaging format and the product proposition being truly pure does not need any boiling. For the first time in India, fresh milk has made its way to the consumer homes and pantries through the D2H (direct to home) distribution by the dairy company.
The UK lawmakers would also discuss the issues with the dairy farmers and the potential investors under the DFID Private Sector Programme. This apart, the MPs would visit Anganwadi Centres to make out the challenges and progress of the DFID support to nutrition. They would also meet the frontline health, nutrition and watsan workers to know their role in delivering services to the community.
