Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of the 29th foundation day of the state pollution Control Board online monitoring system for measurement of air pollutants in emission from chimneys and in the ambient air was put in place for 29 major industries.
Minister for Forest & Environment Bijayshri Routray launched the ambitious program of the Board. The Real Time GPRS based environmental date transmission system is first of its kind in India. This will ensure 24 hour surveillance on the pollution status of the industries electronically and make the whole process transparent. The industries have been asked to install digital display boards at the gate and other prominent places to display the data.
A new innovative concept called “Y” cable to capture the actual data from analyzer prior to going to the plant’s computer” has been introduced in this system for the first time in India. In this process online data prior to arrival at the plant’s local computer will be transmitted through GPRS device to the server of the Board directly without any chance of manipulation and delay. Simultaneously the data can be displayed on the digital Board at factory gate and transmitted to CPCB.
R.N. Senapati, I.A.S, Chairman, State Pollution Control Board, Siddhant Das, IFS, Member Secretary (SPCB) and B.P. Sing Special Secretary Forest & Environment were present. In this occasion Excellency award given to Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. and Appolo Hospital, where as appreciation award was given to CDMO, Bhawanipatna.
