Report by Suchismita Sahoo; Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bhubaneswar) officially starts functioning at Sijua campus on Friday. Though 50 students have taken admission today 48 students attain orientation class.
After a four-day orientation programme, regular classes will be conducted in the Anatomy, Physiology, Bio-chemistry and Community Medicine departments initially. Dr Ashok Mahapatra said 20 faculty members have already joined the institute to teach the first batch of 50 students. Among 50 students who joined in AIIMS –Bhubaneswar 18 are from Odisha. According to information available, 38 boys and 12 girls have taken admission in MBBS this year.
"Eminent experts in different fields will try to address various issues raised by the students. Besides, they will guide them about lifestyle secrets like how to stay calm, peaceful and focused," Tripathy said. The government has arranged accommodation of girl students inside the NIFT hostel till the completion of AIIMS hostel work inside the premises of the institute. However for boys will be accommodated in quarters already constructed. Dr.Mohapatra also informed that the construction of the hostels would be completed soon.
