Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: A mega food park is going to be established in Odisha with the assistance from Govt. of India. It would be functional within a period of 2 years and would provide employment to more than 10,000 people once fully completed.
A special purpose vehicle has been formed in PPP mode called M/S MITS Mega Food Park Ltd. MITS group a reputed business house from the state is the lead promoters of the project along with IDCO , Govt. of Odisha undertaking . This project would be a game changer for the state and would establish Odisha as an international destination in food processing industry.
Newly formed Department of MSME has been entrusted with food processing sector development in the state of Odisha . Dr Damodar Rout, Minister Health & Family Welfare and MSME visited MITS Bhubaneswar campus yesterday and reviewed the status of the project along with senior officials of the state Govt. He was satisfied with the project and shared his experience for development of the food processing sector in the state.
He expressed that food processing sector was top priority and one of the thrust sector for development for the state. He was also of the opinion that Mega Food Park would benefit the farmer and the MSME based agro and food processing industry of the state. He promised to extend all necessary cooperation to the mega food park team for its successful establishment in the state. Dr Damodar Rout was also felicitated by Shri B.K.Panda, Chiarman of MITS Group for his contribution to the state and the farming community in general.
The meeting was attended by Shri Gokul Patnayak , Ex IAS from Punjab and current Chairman of Global Agri System Pvt. Ltd. , Shri Panchana Dash, Special Secretrary MSME Dept , Shri G.Mathivathanan, IAS, CMD , IPICOL and Shri B.K.Panda Chiarman of MITS Group were present along with other officials of MSME and industries department Govt. of Odisha .
