Report by OD bureau; Bhubaneswar: Odisha Govt to hike bus fare & freight charges of truck soon. This was informed by the Minister for Commerce and Transport Subrat Kumar Tarai here today.
On this regard a delegation from All Odisha Private Bus Owners Association meets Minister Tarai. Association leaders told that in the wake of steep hike in the price of diesel by Rs 5 per litre, it would not be feasible on the part of the bus owners to ply their buses at the existing fair structure.
Earlier on September 17 the All Odisha Private Bus Owners Association sought from the State Government a move to either reduce various taxes on diesel or go for immediate hike in bus fares. If nothing is done to reduce the impact of the diesel price hike, then private bus operators would be forced to keep their buses off the road, they said.
A delegation of the AOPBO comprising Prakash Mishra, Barada Acharya and Debendra Sahu on the day met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat and submitted a memorandum to the CM in support of their demand.
