Report by Saumya Parida; Bhubaneswar: Rebel Biju Janata Dal MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra announces name of his much-awaited political front as Odisha Jana Morcha. This was announced by Morcha's spokesperson Jagneswar Babu.
He said objective of Odisha Jana Morcha will be to bring reforms within BJD. The morcha, which is simply a front within BJD, aims at strengthening the party and pushing it in the right direction with true inner democracy. Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik on Odisha Jana Morcha: If it's in the interest of Odisha, we welcome it. Senior BJD leader and Minister Kalpataru Das said formation of Odisha Jana Morcha will not affect BJD.
It should be noted that MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra was suspended from BJD for allegedly engineering a coup bid against Naveen Patnaik government on May 29 when the chief minister was away in the UK.
On the other hand about a dozen regional parties and small outfits today floated the Odisha Jan Sammukhya (OJS) with an aim to jointly contest the next elections to the Lok Sabha and state Assembly. Leaders of RJD, LJP, Samruddha Odisha, RPI (Republican Party of India), Odisha Communist Party, Paschim Odisha Vikas Party, Utkal Samaj, Mitra Shakti and some other outfits met here and announced formation of the front.
