Bhubaneswar: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Surjya Nrayan Patro on Tuesday asked the Revenue Secretary to undertake a probe in irregularities in distribution of Bhoodan lands.

Minister Patro said to media after a high-level meeting held to review the status of the Bhoodan lands that it was decided to conduct a proper inquiry and identify the ineligible persons having been allotted the lands and take necessary legal steps to retrieve the lands and handover them to the Bhoodan Yagna Samiti.

Patro said it was decided to take up scanning and digitisation of the Bhoodan land records which would be completed within next one month and to ensure distribution of the lands to genuine and poor persons. He said that since 1951, 6,38,706.50 acres of land was collected as donation by the Bhoodan Yagna Samiti. So far, 5,79,994 acres has been distributed among 1,52,852 landless person according to the Bhoodan Yagna Samiti (BYS).
