Report by Saroj Mishra, Puri: Director General Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra on Monday afternoon visited Jagannath Temple in Puri to supervise the steps taken by district police ahead of Kartika Purnima.
He also made a spot visit of those locations inside the temple premises who are possibly stampede prone. He is said to have dissatisfied over the initiatives taken by police along with district administration for smooth passage of pilgrims when the turnout is expected to cross three lakhs. Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) cum Chief Administrator (CA) of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Dr Arbinda Padhi also visited the temple to supervise the arrangement for devotees.
After visiting the temple Dr Padhi is told to have realized deficiencies in the arrangement as there was no water for queuing devotes in the barricade. Even there was no roof on the barricade. In a review meeting with district officials DGP and RDC have orders immediate steps on this so that pilgrims face no inconvenience during darshan of trinity, sources said.
