Report by Priyabrata Nayak, Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik terms Union Budget 2013-14 presented by Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram as totally disappointing. CM Patnaik said that this budget has bypassed the developmental needs of the people of Odisha.
Patnaik said that “It’s unfortunate that allocation for Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme has been drastically curtailed.” It does not have any special measure to contain inflation which is seriously hurting the aam aadmi, he said.
Patnaik further added that there is no significant package made for the growth of economy and to tackle inflation in this budget. The budget contains no significant allocation for the development of the farm sector.
Patnaik said that while the budgetary allocation for central assistance to state plan has been drastically reduced in revised estimates, it has been marginally increased in the budget 2013-14.
