Report by OdishaDiary bureau, Bhubaneswar: CHSE scraps Mahalinga college (Kalahandi) exam centre after it found seals of chemistry question paper packets broken.
Earlier Police arrested the Centre Superintendent of Regional Mahaling College at Golamunda in Kalahandi district for his alleged role in leaking Chemistry question paper of ongoing Plus II examination, Saturday.
Accused Bijay Kumar Jena, a lecturer of Kesinga College was produced in court and remanded in jail custody after his bail application was turned down. Jena was detained Friday night for questioning by the Central squad and police personnel in the presence of a Magistrate.
Jena termed his arrest as illegal and intentional. He said he had been framed and made a scapegoat by his detractors as he vehemently opposed mass malpractice during the Plus II examinations. He was appointed the Centre Superintendent of Mahaling College at short notice and had to take up responsibility 24 hours before the examination.
Meanwhile, Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) on Friday called off the Chemistry exam and rescheduled it for March 26. Later, Higher Education department fixed March 30 as the date of exam.
While Crime Branch is engaged in conducting investigation into the matter, the council suspects had of private and residential colleges behind the incident.
