Bhubaneswar: Odisha School & Mass Education department asks director of Secondary Education for report on Explosion in school at Cuttack on Monday.
It may be noted that at least 22 students were injured, five of them seriously, when a crude bomb of low intensity exploded in their classroom at the Ayatpur Government High School near Kandarpur under the Cuttack Sadar police station on Mondaymorning.
The injured were rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital here. The injured students are Manas Maharana, Dipak Das, Rakesh Mallick, Kartik Bhoi, Kulsumar Begum, Sabina Parween, Nasreen Begum, Sangeeta Pradhan, Monalisa Panda, Sasmita Behera, Saraswati Behera, Priti Das, Priyadarshini Sethi, Ranjita Das, Puja Maharana, Subhashri Das, Sandhyarani Das, Jajnaseni Maharana, Sheik Abdul Hossen, Giridhari Behera, Tanveer Khan and Rajkumar Das. The condition of Giridhari, Rajkumar and Tanveer is stated to be critical.
The Commissionerate police along with a scientific team rushed to the school and started investigation after registering a case.
Immediately, the classes for the day were suspended and all the students were asked to go home as the police began investigation in the entire school premises.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his anguish and shock over such an incident inside a classroom and ordered that all the injured students would be given free treatment.
