Five Students injured in acid attack at Dasarathpur

Jajpur: In a shocking incident, at least five high school students sustained burn injuries, three of them seriously when a fast food kiosk owner threw acid at them near Dasarathpur high school under Mangalpur police station limits in Jajpur district on this afternoon.

The students have been identified as Rakesh Kar, Alok Sahu and Deepak Sahu, Class-IX students of Ahiyas High School and two others of another school. While the three have been admitted to the Jajpur district headquarters hospital in critical condition, others are undergoing treatment at Dasarathapur primary health centre.

Police sources said, the incident took place following an altercation between two fast food kiosk owners in the locality who use to sell their fast food before school entrance gate.

“Fast food kiosk owners, Gobinda Samal and Bhagirathi Sahu attacked each other over occupation of a place for their shop near the school. The students were injured when Bhagirathi threw acid on Gobinda. We have arrested Bhagirathi and a case has been registered,” said PK Majhi officer-in-charge of Mangalpur police station.
