5 lakh patients in Odisha got benefited after 108 Ambulance launched, 420 ambulances on the road
Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Bhubaneswar: Since the launch of 108 ambulance service in the state in March 2013, it saved many valuable lives. Thanks to Ziqitza Health Care Service which has been entrusted with the operations of 420 Ambulances spread across 30 districts by Govt. 

These ambulances have been ferrying patients through Bhubaneswar's busy traffic, as well as over the bumpy roads in remote districts like Kalahandi, Koraput, Balangir districts. There are 420 ambulances on the road, operating in 30 districts in PPP mode. There are many examples where the crew members played a vital role in reaching to the patients and saved valuable lives.

On 3rd November, 2014 in Berhampur, when Tata ACE was returning from Digapahandi with carrying nearly 30 passengers met an serious accident due to machinery breakdown.  108 ambulance reached at the spot in time and transferred all injured patients immediately to Digapahandi CHC and later on four serious injured persons were transferred to MKCG hospital, Berhampur.

 In another incident, the roof of a multiplex building was collapsed when the construction was on at Nuagaon viilage, Remena Block, Balasore. Around 40 labourers got injured. Out of total affected laborers, the condition of three labourers was serious and all three persons were trapped under the debris of collapsed building. 108 ambulances reached at spot in time and rescued the injured persons with taking help of fire brigade & local police in presence of SP and ADM of Balasore district. Later on, three serious injured patients transferred to the DHH, Baleswar in 108 Ambulance. 

In assembly session, Sri Atanu Sabyasachi, Minister, Health and Family Welfare department said that 4 lakh 96 thousand 952 people got benefited since 108 ambulance service was launched in the state in March 5, 2013.  

The state government and Ziqitza Health Care Ltd. (ZHL) had signed an agreement on 1st August, 2012 to provide free ambulance service in the state. A centralized Call Centre has been set-up in Bhubaneswar city. The ambulances are strategically located in the operational district in such a way that the entire district can be covered within minimum time. The entire service right from a person making a call to the necessary pre-hospital care in the ambulance and taking the victim to the nearest hospital is absolutely free to every citizen in Odisha. 

Ziqitza Healthcare limited has been entrusted with the operations of 420 Ambulances spread across 30 districts by Govt. .
