Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Tuesday hiked the compensation amount for the victims of the Kandhamal clash in which three persons were killed and more than 800 houses gutted.
Those who had lost the houses completely would be given a compensation of Rs 50,000 instead of Rs 40,000 which was announced earlier. Rs 25,000 would also be provided from Indira Awas Yojana
Similarly, the State Government has decided to give Rs 2 lakh each for the construction of school building, hospital and hostel which were damaged due to communal clash. The compensation would be given from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CRF).
The riot-affected people of Kandhamal will continue to get food free of cost for at least three months. Earlier, the Government announced a compensation package for the kin of those deceased. Rs 1 lakh would be given to each of the next of kin of those killed in communal violence.
