Employee burned in industrial accident at HAL engine division ; upgraded to serious condition
Report by Nishapati Nayak, Sunabeda: Manas Ranjan Sethy, 36, an employee who burned in an industrial accident at HAL, assembly shop of SUKHOI -30 under PB.NO.9662 has been upgraded to serious condition and is breathing on his own.
Manas while performing routine maintenance inside one of the facility’s boilers. When something went wrong and was burned by steam and spark which took over the spilled white petrol spread over his entire body. Near about 70% of the body part was burned. He was first taken to HAL Medical Center and then transferred to Seven Hills, Vishakhapatnam of AP.
An investigation of the accident has been opened by the administrative Department of HAL under the team headed by Mr.A.K.Gouda (DGM) and others. HAL management took a rapid action directing the hospital management to take special care regarding Manas Ranjan’s health. Sources said the plant had recorded no safety issues or measures over industrial accidents.
Entire hospital was full of employees, official administration head, family members & friends. Maximum security was deployed due to chaotic situation created by the employees over this incident. During reporting of the incident HAL Security Chief Mr. J.P.Nayak disrespected the duty of media by opposing, not to take any videos & photos. Such incidents should not be repeated & it has been criticized by the intellectual masses & senior citizens of the region.
