Bhubaneswar: Swami Laxmananda Saraswati Sradhanjali Samiti today announced that it will stage a rally of sadhus, here on 15 November to protest against the “total failure” of the government in nabbing the real culprits behind the Swami’s murder. Addressing a Press conference here, Samiti president Dr Ratnakar Chaini alleged that the state government is adopting double standards in dealing with the Kandhamal crisis. “It appears that the state government is under pressure from both Church and UPA government at the Centre” he alleged. “Lakhs of seers from across the country will demonstrate at Bhubaneswar to condemn the minority appeasement policy of the Naveen Patnaik government,” he said. Dr Chaini drew a comparison between the progress made in the nun rape case and that of the murder of Laxmanananda Saraswati. “The nun has not cooperated with the crime branch police till date and yet the investigating agency has been working overtime arresting people from Kerala and moving the court whereas nothing worth mentioning has been achieved by police in the Laxmanananda Saraswati murder case,” he alleged. “The Samiti will continued to agitate across the state and campaign strongly against religious conversion,” said the Samiti leader before adding that they may give a Orissa bandh call on 25 December. “Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram national president Mr Jagdeo Ram Oram, RSS central committee member Mr Indresh Kumar Mahanta, Dr Ramvilash Vedanti of Ram Janmabhoomi Movement and several other VHP, HJS leaders will attend the 15 November rally,” said Dr Chaini. Interestingly, the Samiti has demanded narco test of several church leaders who had raised the nun rape issue. The victim, the Archbishop and others need to be subjected to narco tests to ascertain the truth and help nab the real culprits, stated the Samiti leaders. The Samiti leaders also wanted the government to release all innocent tribals who had been arrested by Kandhamal district police and adequate security to people who were on the hit list of suspected Maoists.
