Report by kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghapur: For the first time district BJD Yuba unit protested following the union government’s hostile attitude towards much hyped POSCO project slated to be started in Kujanga near Paradeep under Jagatsinghpur district.
The district BJD Yuba unit president Amerendra Das led the agitation took out a rally from Nimain Bhawan where thousands of young BJD activists participated and converged in collector’s parade ground here on Thursday afternoon and held a public meeting attended by district three BJD MLA’s and many senior party leaders and unanimously fumed against union government and described the central UPA government le by congress party has hatched a plan to stop the on going industrial progress of Odisha and POSCO and Vedanta both have been victimized.
Senior legislator and district BJD president Bishnu Das said taking pleas of Forest Rights Act violation the union ministry of Environment and forests has imposed to immediately stop all kinds of work on the land earmarked for the Rs52,000 Crore project , the decision is totally unfortunate and ministry allegations are baseless , our state government has taken every endeavors fulfilling all legal requirements for the project works and all attractive rehabilitation and resettlement packages for the affected people have been implemented so the center’s negative attitude is totally un called , so the state BJD unit would opposed the union governments move , he maintained.
The BJD young brigade staged Dharana in front of collectors’ office about six hours and handed over a memorandum to president of India seeking her intervention through collector and later agitation was called off.
