Jajpur Road: To mark Kalinga Nagar as a steel hub, where industrialist Swaraj Pal and former chief minister Biju Patnaik had planted a Kadamba tree 20 years back, Kalinga Nagar Mahotsav will be held at Jakhapura on June 30.

Accordingly a committee has been formed. Finance Minister Praffulla Chandra Ghadai is its chairman, while Adhyapaka Akshay Sahoo is the acting president. Sarojini Raj, the vice-chairman of Jajpur Zilla Parishad, is its vice-chairman and Mahendra Dhal its secretary.

The committee has decided to invite the Chief Minister, the Governor and various Ministers to participate in the function, which will continue for three days.

A cultural programme will be organised on the occasion, where Prince Dance Group, Brahmapur will participate, besides Chhou from Mayurbhanj, Odishi from Bhubaneswar will be shown. The industrial houses of Kalingnagar like TATA, NINL, VISA, Jindal, Rohit and MESCO will be requested to put their stalls on the function ground.

A souvenir editorial committee was formed in which journalist Krishna Chandra Samal, columnist Dr Priyanath Mohapatra, writer Ramakanta Jena, Adhyapaka Raj Kishore Acharya, Ghana Parida and Sarat Ray are the members.
