Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has issued issued show cause notices to 42 firms on mining in Joda for mining ores beyond permissible limits and without clearance from the Environment and Forest Department in the Joda mining circle.

These companies include OMC, OMDC, Essel Mining, Patnaik Mining and S Pradhan mining, among others. Sources said these companies had dug out iron ores worth crores of rupees in areas beyond their jurisdiction by flouting all norms. However, the association of the mine owners has strongly protested the move by the Government.
