Odisha: Women Empowerment on Cutting and Tailoring

Report by Kishore Kumar Patnaik; Koraput:  A six months Skill up gradation training program on Cutting and Tailoring for Women was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Koraput (Govt. of India) and Koraput Integrated Development Society(KIDS) at Ambaguda of Jeypore Block in Koraput district. 

According to guidelines of training program 25 women from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Back Ward classes and also few from general communities of different villages were enrolled their names for Cutting and Tailoring training program. Sri Deenu Hikaka, Ex-Sarapanch and Smt. Hikaka, present Sarapanch of Ambaguda were inaugurated the Skill upgradation Training Program. Among other auspicious guests 1. Sri Laxminarayan Pattnaik, Dist. Project Officer (Adolescent) NYK, Koraput, 2. Sri Jyotiranjan Parichha, Vice-President of KIDS, 3. Sri Kedarnath Senapati, Secretary, KIDS and Principal of I.T.I.College were present in the inauguration ceremony. Smt. Hikaka, Sarapanch Ambaguda encouraged the participants after completion of tailoring training the trainees could earn money and self stand for themselves independently. This provides to face the society and show the strength of female power and bring forward their standard of economic condition. 

Mr. Pattnaik also informed in the inaugural program those who could complete the tailoring training can go for various schemes of Govt. of Odisha for loan upto 25lakhs for running of a tailoring institution. Kedarnath Senapati, Secretary of KIDS spoke on the importance of dedication and sincerity towards the training program makes successes to each of the trainee. This training stresses more fully on pragmatism on skill and it is a welcome for all the woman group. All the participants were promised and show their interest for training and assured they will come regularly for their skill upgradation. The participants congregates through vote of thanks to the organisers for providing such a scope in Free Cutting and Tailoring Training.
