Report by Amarnath Parida; Jagatsinghpur: Revenue Divisional Commissioner, central range including district collector and other officials visited proposed Posco hit villages and interacted with them to success the RPDAC meeting as well as the inauguration of Posco steel project by South Korean President in next year. District administration has decided to conduct RPDAC meeting on 16th November so officials have pressed into service to success it.
Sources said that commissioner cum secretary of industry department has directed the district administration for preparedness for ‘Ribbon Cutting Ceremony’ to be launched by South Korean President Lee-Myung Bak at the plant site in on January 2010. Similarly, state government has also given emphasis to conduct the Rehabilitations and Periphery Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) in the month of November to finalise the rehabilitation and settlement package for the displaced families. Meanwhile, administration has expedited Posco activities to success PDAC meeting to be held on 16th November.
RDC Mr Ashok Kumar Meena interacted with district collector and other officials to expedite Posco activities on Tuesday. The main discussion was to success RPDAC meeting and to inauguration function of this project. They also discussed about the venue for inaugural of this project by South Korean president either at Posco site or Kujang area. After discussion with officials, Mr Meena visited proposed Posco hit villages Gadkujang, Noliashai, Polanga, Bhuianpal and other villages to study the feasibility for said steel project. He also visited Kunja Bihari temple at Gadkujang and also Mahabir temple at Nuagaon villages.
After visiting these temples, Mr Meena interacted with the local villagers and needed the cooperation of the villagers towards Posco steel project. He also asked the demands of the people and convinced about the packages to the local people. He also requested the villagers to come forward for discussion to finalise the compensation for Posco steel project.
Former sarpanch Mr Rajan Behera, including village chief Jevanlal Behera and others also asked their doubts during the interaction with officials. Anti Posco activists did not protest the officials during the visit in which atmosphere have been witnessed conducive for Posco steel project. On other hand, district officials and Posco officials are in active to success RPDAC meeting to be held 16th November. District collector Mr Gyanranjan Dash and BDO, Erasama Mr Murlidhar Swain accompanied with RDC Mr Meena during visit to Posco site.
