Vedanta Aluminium Conducts Mega Health Camp in Sambalpur district

Report by Orissadiary correspondent; Jharsuguda:  A day long Free Mega Health Camp was organized by Vedanta Aluminium Ltd (VAL) today at Village Pitapalli, here in Sambalpur district. The camp was aimed at treating and providing medical attention to inhabitants of remote peripheral villages besides an open invitation to all residents of Sambalpur and Jharsuguda. 

Running in close succession to the successful Mega health camp organized by Vedanta Aluminium Ltd, two weeks back at Village Kureibaga and as a part of its corporate social responsibility to address the Health and medical-care needs of its peripheral communities, 15 Medical Specialists from Medicine, Eye, Cardiology, Orthopedics, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Chest Diseases, and Surgery from Veer Surendra Sai Medical College Hospital Burla, District Headquarter Hospital Sambalpur and resident Doctors of Vedanta Aluminium Ltd were roped in to provide free treatment and medicines to over Hundreds of patients who visited the camp today. Members of Prajapita Bramhakumari Iswariya Viswa Vidyalaya, Sambalpur also participated in the camp and disseminated courses and counseled patients on alternative therapies like yoga for leading a healthy life.

Since early in the morning Pitapalli geared up to host the Mega Health Camp and with beating of traditional drums the panel of Doctors and Parmedical staffs were welcomed by villagers and especially the women folk. 

Speaking during the opening Mr.Narendra Kumar Dandsena, Sarpanch Pitapalli said, “I am thankful to Vedanta for organizing the health camp. The villagers were looking forward for the support in this direction”. More and more such initiatives will help address the health needs of villagers of remote areas, he added.

The camp was coordinated by Dr. K.K. Saran and Dr. Tribikram Patnaik together with the Village Volunteers and Vedanta Officials who were present among others. Many Octogenarians, Women with children, handicapped villagers with help of their relatives and others came to seek the medical assistance and check-up.     

Mr. Vargil Lakra, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) VAL, thanked the village volunteers and Doctors for their support and participation and promised to initiate more such initiatives benefiting the community.
