Report by Dipti Ranjan Kanungo; Bhubaneswar: It has been decided to restrict on opening of new liquor shop in the state. The notification will be published shortly. As per the information there are some provision within the radius of 500 meter of the School, temple or any social organisation , liquor shop can not be opened. And the there should not any complain of the local peoples. It should be approved by the Gram Sava and Gram Panchayat.
But in most of the cases it has been violated and the interested liquor shop owners have taken the consent of the public representatives in confident. And the district administration are giving approval without checking and spot visit. The local peoples are opposing for opening of the liquor shop, for which the government has to face the hesitation unnecessarily.
For this reason it has been decided to not open any on shop hence forth and if necessary to check up the illegal liquor shop, only off shop will be opened.
