Jaipur: CII Rajasthan organized Rajasthan State Annual Session 2010 – 11 on 16 March 2011 at Jaipur with over 140 industry members from all across the state attended the programme.

Besides Business Session wherein a recap of past year activities was done along with announcement of election results, a Public Session was also organised featuring a Panel Discussion on Building Rajasthan as a Preferred Investment Destination. The Panelists included Mr G S Sandhu, Principal Secretary – UDH, Government of Rajasthan; Dr Purushottam Agarwal, Commissioner, Bureau of Investment Promotion; Mr B L Soni, Police Commissioner – Jaipur; Mr K K Kaul, Sr Executive Director, DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd; Mr Anil Sinha, General Manager – South Asia, International Finance Corporation and Mr Vijay Rai, President & CEO, PowerCon Knowledge Services Pvt Ltd.

Mr G S Sandhu, Principal Secretary – UDH Government of Rajasthan informed that state Govt has prepared draft master plans for all the 184 towns of Rajasthan and will be issuing very shortly. He also said that water supply project is being given to the local bodies that in turn can collaborate with private sector. He informed the Law for Rain Water Harvesting structures will be implemented strictly with punishment and penalty.

Dr Purushottam Agarwal, Commissioner, Bureau of Investment Promotion, Rajasthan mentioned that the Investment Policy is very comprehensive and Single Window System has many unique features which will change the industrial & investment scenario in Rajasthan.

Mr B L Soni, Police Commissioner – Jaipur, Government of Rajasthan assured that Rajasthan Police is geared up and will provide complete peaceful environment & security to all.

Mr K K Kaul, Sr Executive Director, DSCL highlighted the status of Rajasthan on Industrial Infrastructure, Industrial Relations and Ease of doing business in Rajasthan. Focusing on the lack of flight connectivity to Kota, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, he emphasized on more & more commercial flights to all across major centers in Rajasthan.

Mr Anil Sinha, General Manager – South Asia, International Finance Corporation focussed on strengths and weaknesses of the state and compared with some best practices of various countries and states of India.

Mr Vijay Rai, President & CEO, PowerCon Knowledge Services Pvt Ltd briefed about the National Skill Development Corporation working for the cause of Skill Development in country. He informed that only 2% of Indian workforce is skilled and rest is still under the category of unskilled.

Mr Inderjit Khanna, Former Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan moderated the Panel Discussion and Mr R M Khanna, Chairman, CII Northern Region gave special remarks during the session.

The programme went off well and was highly appreciated.

Later during the day, Mr S G Vyas, Managing Director, Jagjanani Textiles Ltd and Mr Dileep Baid, Proprietor, Dileep Trading Corporation were elected as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively for CII Rajasthan State Council 2011 – 12.
