Report by Priyabrata Nayak; Bhubaneswar: With an objective of the inclusive growth and industrial development through rail and road infrastructure by public private partnership, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a seminar " Bridge 2012" here.

Addressing the seminar, State Commerce and transport minister Subrat tarai said, for the economic growth transportation plays a significant role. Our government has chalked out several plans to improve road, railway and inland water communication. Along with it, State government is in continuos touch with the center for their coordination for central communication projects in the state.

Santosh Kumar Mohapatra, CEO of the Dhamara Port Corporation limited, stressed upon the importance of enhancing economic development through rail and road. He said Odisha is the gateway to the freight and cargo to the eastern half of peninsular India. Therefore State government should take keen interest in developing and improving the quality of various means of transportation.

Sharad verma, CGM of East Container Corporation of India limited said, due to increasing production small logistics providers are not able to meet the optimum services. Thus both railway and road transport communication system need to be developed. So that it would be a boon for them. Likewise Satyaki nath, director, Coal Railway Board shared his experience on overall coal movement in India and logistic issues.

He also emphasized on developing the inland waterways in the Easter region as a measure of supplementing Indian railways. M.K gupta, vice chairman of CII Odisha State council, expressed his gratitude towards the initiative taken by the government for the betterment of transportation in the State.
